Any necessary roof repairs are usually carried out as part of the process.
Types of Conversion
While there are a number of conversion types the following two are the most common.
Dormer Loft Conversion
By extending the loft space beyond the angle of the original roof they do provide additional space & headroom within the loft which can improve staircase access.
Hip to Gable Loft Conversion
Hip to gable conversion are build where the properties has a hipped roofs. These conversion involve adjusting the roofline to create a gable end.
This modification provides additional space for a full-width dormer or other types of windows.
Mansard Loft Conversion
A Mansard conversion is a more involved conversion project whereby the roof structure is altered to create additional living space. These conversion are often a preferred solution where properties are in areas where space is limited and the roof pitch is steep.
It involves the building up the walls on one or both sides of the property to generate a flat roof that has a shallow pitch.
Roof Window Loft Conversion
Roof windows are a popular option as they don’t require any restructuring of the roof & can provide significant amounts of light into the loft space.
In addition while they do require building regulation approval, they don’t need planning permission & can be built under permitted development rights.
